Our commitment

The Campaign for Arthur Amadi is committed to making this website accessible to all people, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities. We believe everyone in Ward 2 deserves equal access to information about who is running to represent them on council.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard and to align with the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

What we've built in

Keyboard navigation

Every interactive element on this site — links, buttons, forms, and navigation — can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone. A visible skip-to-content link appears when you tab to the top of any page.

Screen reader support

Pages use proper semantic HTML (headings, landmarks, lists) and ARIA labels where needed. Decorative images are marked aria-hidden="true". Meaningful images include descriptive alt text.

Colour and contrast

Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios. We do not rely on colour alone to convey information — labels, icons, and text are used alongside colour cues.

Text sizing

All text is set in relative units (rem/em) and scales correctly when browser text size is increased up to 200%. Page layout adapts without loss of content or functionality.

Reduced motion

Animations (the scrolling marquee, scroll-reveal effects) are disabled or reduced for users who have enabled the "reduce motion" preference in their operating system.

Focus indicators

All interactive elements display a clearly visible focus ring when focused via keyboard or assistive technology.

Forms

All form fields have visible, descriptive labels. Required fields are marked visually and use native browser validation where possible.

Responsive design

This site works on all screen sizes — from mobile phones to large desktop monitors. Content reflows correctly without horizontal scrolling on screens as narrow as 320px.

Known limitations

This site is actively being developed. Some areas we are still working on:

  • We continue to review photo descriptions as new campaign images are added.
  • Third-party services linked from this site may have accessibility limitations outside our control.

Third-party content

This site links to third-party services such as Google Calendar and, once enabled, donation processing. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of content hosted on those platforms. If you encounter a barrier with a third-party tool, please contact us and we will do our best to provide an alternative.
