The Two Days

Pick a Saturday. Or both.

October 10 is the primary push, October 17 is for anyone who can't make it.

Primary · Saturday

October 10, 2026

Two shifts:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Do one shift. Do both. Bring a friend. We need every door we can hit before advance polls open on the 12th.

Second Wave · Saturday

October 17, 2026

Two shifts:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Between advance polls and election day. Every door still counts. This is the final reminder to voters who haven't made it out yet.

Meet-point · Both days

McDonald's Milton, 91 James Snow Pkwy N, Milton. Arrive 15 minutes before your shift for a quick briefing and turf assignment. Coffee will be there.

What to Expect

A shift in five steps.

1

Arrive at McDonald's

15 minutes early. Check in with the team lead. Grab coffee.

2

Quick briefing

Five minutes. What we're saying, what we're not saying, how to handle a "not interested."

3

Turf assignment

You get a walk list: a specific stretch of streets in Dempsey or Clarke. Paired with someone if it's your first time.

4

Walk your turf

Two hours. Knock doors, drop flyers, listen. Mark your list as you go.

5

Check back in

Return to McDonald's. Hand back your list. Snack, water, quick debrief. You're done.

What to bring: comfortable shoes, a water bottle, a phone that's charged. Everything else is provided.

Quick Questions

Before you sign up.

I've never canvassed before. Is that OK?

More than OK. It's the norm. You'll get a five-minute briefing, walk with someone experienced, and follow a simple script. Most people say the first door is the hardest and after that it's fun.

I don't live in Milton. Can I still help?

Yes. Volunteers come from across the GTA. If you can get to McDonald's on James Snow Pkwy N, we'll plug you in. Let us know your city on the form so we can help with carpools.

Can I just drop flyers and not talk to anyone?

Yes. Pick "Lit-drop only" on the form. You'll get a route where you just leave flyers at doors, no conversations required.

What if it rains?

We go rain or shine unless there's a lightning storm. Bring a rain jacket. If the weather's genuinely dangerous we'll text everyone signed up by 8:00 AM that morning.

Can I bring my kid?

Yes. Many volunteers bring family. Kids canvassing with a parent is a great time. Note them in the "bringing anyone" field so we plan the right amount of food.

Do I need to stay the whole shift?

A shift is two hours because that's how long a walk list takes. If you have to leave earlier, tell your turf lead and we'll figure it out.
